The Institute on Aging (IOA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults and individuals with disabilities in the San Francisco Bay Area. Established in 1985, IOA offers a comprehensive range of services designed to support seniors in maintaining their independence and well-being.

Core Services

• Enhanced Care Management: Through programs like CalAIM, IOA provides personalized care coordination for adults transitioning from nursing facilities, those living in the community who wish to remain at home, individuals with mental health or substance use challenges, and adults experiencing homelessness. Care managers assist with medical appointments, medication management, transportation, and connecting clients to community-based services.
• Community Programs: IOA operates multiple Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs) offering a wide array of long-term services and support options. The organization also runs the Elder Abuse Prevention Program, providing education, outreach, and advocacy to prevent and respond to abuse among older adults and adults with disabilities.
• Home and Community-Based Alternatives (HCBA): This program offers care management services to individuals at risk of nursing home placement, providing support to live independently in the community.
• Companioa Dementia Services: Companioa offers comprehensive dementia care, including in-home support and day programs to assist individuals with Alzheimer's and other dementias, as well as their caregivers.
• Corio Home Care Support Services: Corio provides personalized home care services, including assistance with personal care, medication management, household tasks, companionship, transportation, and errands, enabling seniors to live comfortably in their own homes.
• Friendship Line: A 24/7 toll-free "warm line" offering emotional support and friendly conversation to older adults, helping to combat loneliness and provide a sense of community.
