Position: Sous Chef job
About: American Cruise Lines, the largest cruise line in the United States, is looking to add Sous Chefs to their shipboard team for the 2025 season. The shipboard team supports a fleet of ships sailing through various itineraries, offering unique culinary experiences from contemporary riverboats to paddlewheel queens for a nostalgic steamboat adventure. Exceptional cuisine is crafted by highly skilled chefs with prestigious culinary backgrounds, using only the freshest ingredients to create inspired menus featuring regional and local specialties. As a Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the culinary team, working on breakfast, lunch, dinner, and specialty dishes served throughout the vessel to ensure a consistent standard of culinary excellence and exceptional guest service.
Requirements: Minimum 5 years of culinary experience in a full-service resort, hotel, or cruise ship; familiarity with food safety standards; ability to multitask, take direction, and collaborate effectively in a team environment; capacity to work calmly under pressure; strong problem-solving, self-motivation, and organizational skills; proficiency in reading, understanding, and executing basic cooking recipes; effective time management and leadership abilities; excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills; willingness to undergo pre-employment drug testing and criminal background checks; experience in training and teaching culinary skills; availability for a work rotation of 6 to 8 weeks onboard followed by 1 to 2 weeks off.
