Position: Director of Shelter Animal Behavior

About: The ASPCA’s Community Medicine (CM) team provides expert veterinary care to support the welfare of animals in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles by offering stationary and mobile veterinary clinics. They provide quality services directly to underserved communities, subsidizing the cost of basic and preventive care. The team assists pet owners in making informed decisions about their pets’ health and wellbeing regardless of financial circumstances.

Requirements: Must have graduated from an accredited school of veterinary science technology (2 or 4-year program) or equivalent; current New York State Veterinary Technician License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment); surgery/anesthesia experience preferred; excellent animal handling and customer service skills; ability to lift 40-plus pounds repeatedly, work standing for 8 or more hours, work independently and as part of a team, and remain calm under challenging conditions; strong interest in animal welfare and serving underserved communities; Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire
