The Zero Waste Sorter position at State Farm Arena is a part-time role focused on maintaining the venue's commitment to zero waste. This involves collecting, sorting, and disposing of all waste generated during events in compliance with the arena's zero-waste goals. Sorters play a vital role in separating waste into appropriate streams such as landfill, compostable items including food and food packaging, bottles and cans, cardboard, mixed paper, and glass. This role requires attention to detail, efficiency, and teamwork to ensure that the arena's environmental impact is minimized. Working primarily during night shifts from 10 PM to 6 AM, with hours varying depending on event schedules, successful candidates will earn a competitive hourly wage of $19.00.

The ideal sorters will undergo training to familiarize themselves with the sorting process, which includes opening every trash bag or container to properly separate items into respective waste streams. The responsibility extends to completing mandatory checklists at the end of every shift to ensure accuracy and accountability. This position demands physical stamina as sorters must be able to lift, push, and pull heavy equipment weighing up to 200 pounds. Candidates must also be capable of working a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the nature of events hosted at the arena.
