Job Description

Kampgrounds of America, Inc. (KOA) is the world’s largest network of privately owned campgrounds, leading the way in outdoor hospitality with over 500 locations across the United States and Canada, including both franchised and company-owned parks. Founded in 1962, KOA’s mission is to "connect people to the outdoors and each other." KOA is a family-oriented, passionate, entrepreneurial, customer-focused, and innovative company dedicated to creating memorable outdoor experiences for all guests. The company prides itself on fostering a community where guests, employees, and franchise partners feel a true sense of belonging and inclusion. KOA actively promotes diversity, ensures accessibility to the outdoors for all individuals, and drives positive change in the camping industry through proactive action and implementation.

KOA believes that the outdoors is fun and for everyone. This belief is embedded in their commitment to an environment where every person is treated with dignity and respect. The company continually educates its staff and fosters a culture valuing diverse thoughts and experiences. KOA’s work environment emphasizes inclusivity, safety, and mutual respect, ensuring that their facilities and services are accessible and enjoyable to all who visit.

The Night Host position at KOA plays a critical role in the guest services team by supporting the campground operations after normal business hours. This position involves registering late-arriving guests, selling and delivering ice and firewood, enforcing campground rules, managing cleanliness by picking up trash and emptying receptacles, and responding to after-hours phone inquiries and messages. Additionally, the Night Host performs basic housekeeping and light maintenance duties to ensure the campground remains well-kept and inviting.

As a guest-facing role, the Night Host requires exceptional customer service skills, a positive and proactive attitude, and the ability to work independently without constant oversight. The individual in this role must effectively communicate rules, local recreation activities, and provide reliable directions, helping guests have a great experience even during off-peak hours. Responsibilities extend beyond customer interaction to include maintaining cleanliness in restrooms, campsites, and common areas, performing minor repairs such as carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tasks, and ensuring safety by reporting issues to management or local authorities as needed.

This position reports directly to the Designated Supervisor and General Manager, stressing the importance of reliable and timely completion of tasks. Night Hosts are expected to prioritize duties thoughtfully, manage safety protocols for themselves and guests, and maintain a friendly, courteous demeanor at all times. The role demands physical capability, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and operating various maintenance tools.

KOA is an Equal Opportunity Employer that ensures all employees and applicants receive fair treatment free from discrimination or harassment. The company embraces diversity and inclusion, making it a welcoming workplace for people from all backgrounds. KOA does not sponsor Visas and currently does not hire in the states of Alaska, District of Columbia, Idaho, Louisiana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Rhode Island, and Vermont. This role typically involves night, weekend, and holiday shifts, offering a unique opportunity to be the face of KOA's hospitality during after-hours and contribute to the overall guest experience and safety at one of the leading campground networks in North America.
