Known for its commitment to academic excellence, OCCC offers a wide array of programs and services aimed at supporting its diverse student population. The college emphasizes a supportive learning environment and encourages student involvement in various campus activities. As a vibrant educational community located in Oklahoma City, OCCC continually strives to create opportunities that enhance the academic and personal growth of its students. The Writing Center, part of OCCC's Division of Arts, English & Humanities, plays a crucial role in supporting students' academic journeys by offering tutoring and writing assistance services. The center ensures that students have access to resources that improve their writing skills, which are essential for academic achievement and career readiness.
The Writing Center Receptionist - Student position is a vital role within this supportive educational environment. This student employment opportunity offers a flexible work schedule with up to 25 hours per week and an hourly wage of $10.00. The position is ideal for current OCCC students enrolled in at least six credit hours during Fall or Spring semesters or at least three credit hours during the summer semester. This role entails performing secretarial and clerical duties that directly contribute to the smooth operation of the Writing Center. The receptionist will serve as the first point of contact for visitors, providing excellent customer service and assisting students while they are using the center's computer resources. Beyond administrative tasks, the position requires strong communication skills, proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office, and a positive attitude toward customer interaction. The receptionist must also be capable of multitasking and prioritizing duties in a busy college environment. Physical demands are minimal and mainly involve sedentary work with occasional light lifting and frequent movement around the center. This position provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in gaining experience in a professional academic setting while enhancing their customer service, administrative, and computer skills. Additionally, this role supports the college’s mission by promoting tutoring services and contributing to a positive educational atmosphere where students feel welcomed and supported.
