Job Description
La Compagnie de Burgondie is a prominent and established company deeply rooted in the renowned Burgundy wine region of France. This company encompasses seven prestigious wineries, each known for their unique contributions to the wine industry. For instance, Bailly Lapierre is recognized as a pioneer of Cremants de Bourgogne, while Vignerons de Buxy is celebrated for its Cote Chalonnaise wines and is a leader in Montagny AOP. Cave de Vire is the leader in AOP Vire Clesse, Cave d'Aze holds a significant position in Maconnais, Chateau de Chenas specializes in Beaujolais crus, Chateau des Loges is an expert in Beaujolais Village, and Vignerons des Pierres Dorees represents the signature brand for Southern Beaujolais. Collectively, these wineries represent a vast legacy of viticulture excellence, quality, and tradition.
La Compagnie de Burgondie is currently seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, and goal-oriented Wine Specialist to cover an extensive territory of 14 states in the United States, including ME, VT, MA, RI, CT, NY, NJ, PA, DE, WI, MI, OH, WA, and CO. The specialist will work under the guidance and collaboration of the Export Manager Americas. This position is essential in strengthening the company's reach and influence within the competitive American wine market by working closely with distributors and their sales teams.
The role demands a strategic and proactive individual who can dedicate approximately half of their time to direct sales activities, including business travel. The Wine Specialist will be actively involved in developing and growing sales of La Compagnie de Burgondie's brands with key accounts both on-premises and off-premises. Building and maintaining solid relationships with distributors, key buyers, owners, and account managers is crucial to increase sales, distribution, and market penetration in the assigned states.
Further, the role involves expanding product distribution and driving portfolio growth by prospecting and securing new distributor partners, managing purchase orders and inventory in close cooperation with the sales coordinator, and supporting logistics to ensure smooth importation and delivery of products from France. The specialist will also play a vital role in organizing wine-related events such as tastings, dinners, training, and educational seminars aimed at consumers and trade professionals to boost brand awareness and knowledge.
The position requires the candidate to monitor market trends continuously, identify new business opportunities, and suggest action plans that align with the company's growth objectives. This person must be flexible to work evenings and weekends as business needs dictate and prepared to engage in biannual in-person sales reviews in France. The role offers a competitive fixed salary combined with bonuses, comprehensive health insurance, paid time off, holidays, and a retirement plan after one year of service. This is a demanding and rewarding career opportunity for passionate wine professionals seeking to advance their exposure and impact within a world-renowned wine company.
