The Wine Sales Ambassador (WSA) at Wente Family Estates plays a pivotal role in ensuring positive customer interactions and exceptional hospitality that drive sales, meet club membership goals, and maintain high service standards. This role requires creating compelling guest experiences to boost engagement, activate wine club memberships, and generate revenue. As a WSA, you will present the benefits of joining the wine club to guests, host educational experiences about the winery’s history, vineyards, and winemaking processes, and promote various events and services on the property. The role demands mastery of the entire Wente Portfolio and flexibility to work at multiple tasting rooms depending on business needs. You will be responsible for achieving individual and team sales targets, delivering knowledgeable wine tastings, and ensuring guests enjoy unforgettable wine and culinary adventures. The WSA supports smooth daily operations by managing guest flow, processing transactions, stocking, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. Collaboration with the tasting room team and active participation in special events and external representations of the winery are also key aspects of this position. The ideal candidate will have a passion for wine, demonstrated sales skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team, all while embodying professionalism and a customer-first attitude.

Job Requirements
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to stand for long periods during shifts
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Manual dexterity and vision sufficient to operate computers and POS systems
- Hearing sufficient for clear communication in person and on phone
- Ability to coordinate and operate office and sales equipment such as iPads, scanners and cash registers
- Capability to perform repetitive bending and reaching during inventory and stocking
- Fluent English speaking and reading
- Availability to work at least three shifts per week including weekends and holidays
- Willingness to work at various tasting room locations as business needs require
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated sales aptitude and passion for sharing the story from vine to bottle
- Proven results and experience in a tasting room, previous sales or direct-to-consumer (DTC) role
- Proven experience contributing and reaching goals as part of a team
- Strong knowledge of and passion for wine, food and the wine industry
- Ability to understand, explain and develop personal wine knowledge
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Wine Direct and Cellar Pass or ability to quickly learn these programs
- Ability to maintain a positive outlook when faced with challenges or change
- Positive, natural team player and self-motivated
- Professional demeanor with a neat and clean appearance
- At least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license
- Able to speak and read English fluently
- Availability to work a minimum of three shifts per week, including weekends and holidays
- Flexibility to work at all Wente Family Estates tasting rooms as required
Job Duties
- Responsible for positive customer interactions and exceptional hospitality that result in maximizing sales, meeting Club Wente membership goals, maintaining high customer service standards and retention
- Create compelling guest experiences that propels guest engagement, wine club activation and generates wine sales/revenue
- Present the benefits of becoming a wine club member to guests, contributing to the growth of the wine club and obtaining individual and team sales goals
- Host experiences that educate guests on WFE’s history, brands, vineyards, winemaking and wines, ultimately leading to an engaging experience that creates brand loyalty and wine sales
- Create opportunities to sell events, services and experiences offered on the property
- Achieve daily/weekly/monthly individual and team sales goals
- Learn and understand the WFE guest and recommend improvements to optimize the guest experience and profits
- Support all brands within the Wente Portfolio and deliver wine and guest experiences at all properties as needed
- Conduct knowledge-based tasting experiences for guests
- Deliver unforgettable wine and culinary adventures featuring Wente Family Estates wine and local, seasonal, high-quality snacks
- Work and communicate positively and respectfully with all members of the tasting room team
- Function independently and make empowered decisions that positively impact the guest experience
- Participate in and assist with special events and represent the winery at outside functions
- Train ambassadors selected by management on wines, sales techniques and tours
- Ensure smooth daily operations including communication, traffic flow management and guest engagement
- Process transactions, stock wine and assist guests with purchases
- Follow all safety practices and proactively mitigate risks for employees and guests
- Maintain a neat, clean and orderly environment
- Perform opening and closing duties
