Job Qualifications

  • Desired industry certification such as Court of Master Sommeliers or Society of Wine Educators
  • Minimum of three years experience in a similar role in restaurant, hotel, club, or resort
  • Extensive knowledge of wine varietals, regions, and vintages
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in identifying wine faults and maintaining optimal serving temperatures
  • Understanding of pricing, budgeting, and cost control related to wine
  • Proficient in operating and programming point-of-sale systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills in inventory management and communication
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experienced in handling member complaints and disputes successfully
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure

Job Duties

  • Assist in setting up for each meal period with focus on detail, quality, and exceptional customer service
  • Ensure wine is served in the appropriate glassware at the correct temperature
  • Contribute to the management of the restaurant floor to enhance overall member experience
  • Participate in Maître-D roles and collaborate with management staff
  • Assist in maintaining and organizing various cellars on the property
  • Ensure accuracy of end-of-month inventory procedures for wine stock
  • Maintain wine displays and promptly update vintage and price changes
  • Expedite printing and replacement of wine list pages as needed
  • Communicate wine by-the-glass changes to all outlets
  • Update point-of-sale system with new items and price changes
  • Remove unnecessary sales items from inventory
  • Fulfill wine orders based on invoices provided by the Beverage Director
  • Process online wine orders efficiently
  • Create invoices from orders collected at wine events
  • Organize wine orders for easy retrieval
  • Notify members when their orders are ready for pickup
  • Accurately bill all orders to the correct members
  • Maintain wine-to-go log to track orders during service
  • Execute Wine of the Month Club tasks including filling bags and delivering
  • Participate in BevSpot training and scan invoices
  • Double-check coding to liquor and wine for accuracy
  • Submit invoices to accounting department
  • Report pricing discrepancies to Beverage Director
  • Enter transfers from Paradise Grill and Men’s Grill
  • Communicate out-of-stock items
  • Update vintage changes and archive wines no longer on list
  • Assign locations to new wines for inventory tracking
  • Stay current on wine trends, varietals, and vintages
  • Attend tasting meetings with Food and Beverage Director
  • Collaborate in training staff focusing on wine service and knowledge
  • Act as information resource and educator sharing passion for wine
  • Fulfill duties assigned by Food and Beverage Director to support wine program
  • Assist in pricing, budgeting, and cost control related to wine inventory
  • Operate and program point-of-sale system
  • Handle member complaints and disputes professionally
  • Maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
  • Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
