Job Description
VintEdge Wine and Spirits is a distinguished liquor store located in Somerville, New Jersey, that prides itself on offering an exceptional shopping experience through outstanding customer service, a broad selection of quality wines and spirits, and great value for its customers. The company’s mission is centered on creating an inviting atmosphere where customers feel valued and confident in their purchase decisions. VintEdge Wine and Spirits is not your typical liquor store; it is a destination for wine and spirit enthusiasts, as well as casual buyers seeking knowledgeable assistance and a personalized touch. The establishment cultivates a reputation for an excellent product assortment combined with professional staff expertise, aiming to serve the community with integrity and passion for the beverage industry.
The role of Wine and Operations Manager at VintEdge Wine and Spirits plays a critical part in sustaining this vision and driving the company forward. This full-time position demands a dynamic individual with at least three years of experience in food, beverage, hospitality, or retail sectors who will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the store. The ideal candidate excels in customer service, has a strong understanding of wine and spirits, and is capable of multitasking in a fast-paced retail environment.
As the Wine and Operations Manager, you will be tasked with providing superior customer service by building strong rapport and making informed sales recommendations tailored to individual customer preferences. You will assist in the purchasing process to ensure inventory aligns with market demand and company guidelines. The role requires a hands-on approach in maintaining the visual presentation of the store, adhering strictly to merchandising policies that enhance the customer experience and support product sales.
Beyond the day-to-day retail and operational duties, you will be involved in content creation for the company’s website, point-of-sale materials, and email marketing campaigns, thereby contributing to the promotion and growth of the brand. Hosting and assisting with in-store tastings and events is another essential aspect of the position, offering customers an engaging and educational experience with the product range.
Inventory control, including accounts payable reconciliation, falls under your responsibility to maintain the financial and logistical health of the store. Additionally, you will ensure the store is kept clean and orderly, from the sales floor to stock rooms and other facility areas. Performing cashier functions, adhering to minor policies during customer transactions, and organizing back-office operations are vital parts of your daily workflow.
This role requires physical stamina and flexibility, as it involves walking, bending, standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and climbing ladders. You must also be available to work nights and weekends, which are critical times for retail operations. Educational qualifications such as a high school diploma and industry certifications like WSET or Sommelier credentials are considered a plus, enhancing your ability to excel in this specialized retail environment.
At VintEdge Wine and Spirits, teamwork and effective communication are highly valued, and the successful candidate will thrive working in a collaborative environment. The company is committed to equal employment opportunities and ensures all qualified applicants will receive consideration without discrimination. Joining the team as a Wine and Operations Manager means becoming part of a passionate community dedicated to delivering the ultimate wine and spirits shopping experience in Somerville, NJ.
