Job Description
Flanigan's is a well-established restaurant chain known for its made-from-scratch recipes, superior ingredients, generous portion sizes, and a vibrant, high-energy kitchen environment. Renowned for delivering delicious and carefully prepared dishes, Flanigan's prides itself on maintaining quality and consistency throughout its menu offerings. The company fosters a positive and dynamic workplace culture that encourages teamwork, skill development, and culinary passion. With a strong emphasis on fresh ingredients and authentic flavors, Flanigan's has cultivated a loyal customer base that appreciates both the menu variety and the friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
The role offered is that of a cook within Flanigan's back-of-house (BOH) team, a crucial position responsible for accurately preparing many of the beloved dishes that guests expect when visiting any Flanigan's location. As a cook on this team, you will be instrumental in upholding the restaurant's commitment to quality culinary standards. This full-time position centers around precise adherence to the company's recipe manual and plate presentation standards, ensuring that each dish meets the brand's high expectations.
In this role, cooks are expected to follow all company safety and sanitation policies closely, contributing to a safe working environment for themselves and their colleagues. Duties include managing ingredient rotation and restocking to maintain smooth operational flow, helping to prep stations for service, and assisting with vendor deliveries. The role emphasizes cleanliness and organization, with responsibilities including maintaining the kitchen area throughout shifts and thorough cleaning of stations at closing.
Given the dynamic and fast-paced nature of Flanigan's kitchen, the ideal candidate will be physically capable of standing and walking throughout their entire shift, performing tasks that involve reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Detailed communication skills are also essential, as cooks must effectively coordinate ticket times, ensure timely food flow, and report any issues to the manager on duty promptly. Familiarity and comfort with kitchen machinery such as open flame grills, stoves, and slicers are critical to success in this role.
Flanigan's offers a supportive environment with a clear path for advancement based on performance rather than tenure, making it an excellent place for culinary professionals seeking to grow their careers. Competitive benefits include a five-day workweek with consecutive days off, paid vacation with increasing allotments based on years of service, health insurance options, a 401(k) plan with immediate eligibility for those meeting age criteria, and even a Christmas bonus after one year of employment. Additionally, employees enjoy free shift meals, reinforcing Flanigan's commitment to employee satisfaction and well-being.
By joining Flanigan's kitchen team, you become part of a family that values hard work, dedication, and a passionate approach to food preparation. This role is well suited for individuals who thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced environment and who take pride in consistently delivering top-quality dishes that contribute to memorable dining experiences. Whether you are an experienced cook or someone eager to build foundational BOH skills in a supportive setting, Flanigan's provides an opportunity to develop your culinary craft while being part of a respected and popular restaurant brand.
