Job Description
Advocate Health is one of the largest nonprofit, integrated health systems in the United States, formed through the merger of Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health. Operating under the names Advocate Health Care in Illinois; Atrium Health in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Alabama; and Aurora Health Care in Wisconsin, Advocate Health is nationally renowned for its dedication to clinical innovation, outstanding health outcomes, excellent consumer experiences, and commitment to value-based care. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, the organization serves nearly 6 million patients and participates in hundreds of clinical trials and research studies. The Wake Forest University School of Medicine acts as the academic core of this expansive enterprise. Advocate Health has earned national recognition for its specialties, including cardiology, neurosciences, oncology, pediatrics, rehabilitation, organ transplants, burn treatments, and advanced musculoskeletal programs. With a workforce of 155,000 teammates spanning 69 hospitals and over 1,000 care locations, it boasts one of the nation's largest graduate medical education programs that supports over 2,000 residents and fellows across more than 200 programs. Advocate Health is deeply committed to equitable care access and annually provides more than $6 billion in community benefits.
The part-time Concierge Service position at Advocate Health’s AMC Summit department offers a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in managing the first and last impressions of the facility for patients, visitors, and staff. Though this is a zero assigned position to fill occasional openings, the role is vital in ensuring guests receive prompt, courteous, and professional service at all times. Compensation ranges from $18.85 to $28.30 per hour, depending on factors such as experience and qualification.
This position requires strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and the ability to engage with patients and visitors in a friendly yet professional manner. Concierges proactively approach, greet, and assist all who enter the facility, manage telephone calls, and coordinate with various hospital departments and external transport services to facilitate smooth patient and visitor flow. The role involves using the Epic system to manage appointment look-ups, input transport requests, and maintain communication across the hospital network.
A Concierge in this setting will actively problem-solve, handle conflicts, address patient or visitor complaints, and implement service recovery steps as needed to maintain exceptional standards of care and satisfaction. Physical aspects of the job include assisting patients and visitors with wheelchairs, escorting them both inside and outside the facility, helping individuals get in and out of vehicles, and monitoring traffic flow at the entrances. At times, symptom screening is conducted to ensure health and safety protocols are met.
This position demands the ability to perform under pressure, maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and collaborate effectively with hospital staff and external partners. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required, along with approximately two years of experience in a customer-facing role. Life support training may be required at the discretion of the department.
Advocate Health offers a comprehensive suite of Total Rewards, including competitive compensation, potential premium and incentive pay, opportunities for annual performance-based increases, and extensive benefits. These encompass paid time off, health and welfare benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability coverage, flexible spending accounts, family benefits like adoption assistance and paid parental leave, defined contribution retirement plans with employer matching, financial wellness programs, and educational assistance opportunities. As a valued member of Advocate Health, you will be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to improving health outcomes and delivering compassionate care to diverse communities.
