The role being offered is that of a Customer Service and Transport Aide, a vital frontline position responsible for managing the first and last impressions that patients and visitors have of the facility. This role demands a friendly, professional approach to greeting and assisting visitors, ensuring that their experience is both positive and efficient from the moment they arrive until departure. A key aspect of this position is effective communication with various departments, transport companies, and external organizations to facilitate the smooth movement and support of patients and visitors throughout the facility.
The individual in this role will need to be proactive in providing quick and responsive service, addressing patient and visitor concerns, managing conflicts when they arise, and taking recovery actions when service issues occur. This position also includes the physical responsibility of assisting patients and visitors in and out of vehicles, escorting them using wheelchairs when necessary, and helping maintain traffic flow in the facility entrances. Additionally, the role includes symptom screening by asking structured health questions to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone entering the facility. The position typically requires a commitment to standing and walking for the majority of the workday and the ability to endure exposure to varying weather conditions.
To succeed, candidates should have at least a high school diploma or GED, with a preferred background of two years in a customer service-facing role. Intermediate computer skills are necessary, with experience using the Epic healthcare system considered a plus. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, alongside strong interpersonal abilities, are essential to foster positive interactions even under difficult circumstances. The role requires individuals who can handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
This position includes important physical demands such as lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving patients via wheelchairs, and wayfinding throughout the facility. Candidates should be prepared for exposure to outdoor weather elements and minimal odors from automobile emissions. The facility does not require any licensure, registration, or certification for this position but may require life support training based on departmental discretion.
