This job opportunity is for the position of Welcome Center Staff (Front Desk) at a YMCA branch. The role centers around delivering exceptional service to members, guests, and program participants, ensuring a positive and welcoming atmosphere within the facility. As the first point of contact, the Welcome Center staff member is responsible for providing supportive and friendly interactions both in-person and via phone. This position involves responding to inquiries, promoting memberships and programs, and maintaining order and cleanliness in the lobby and wellness areas. The role requires an individual who is approachable, professional, and passionate about community engagement and customer service.

The Welcome Center Staff plays a pivotal role in member retention by offering excellent customer service. The position involves conducting interviews and giving tours to prospective members, actively selling memberships, and building meaningful relationships inside the YMCA community. The staff member assists members in connecting with one another and the organization, addressing concerns promptly, and escalating unresolved issues to supervisors as needed. Additionally, this role includes operational duties such as membership sign-ups, program registrations, receipting, and data entry to ensure accurate record-keeping.

Maintaining safety and enforcing rules within the Wellness Center is another key responsibility, requiring vigilance and adherence to YMCA policies. The staff member may also distribute locker keys and towels and monitor locker rooms to uphold cleanliness and security standards. Certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid must be obtained within 30 days of hire to comply with safety protocols.

The ideal candidate for the Welcome Center Staff is someone who possesses excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, can relate effectively to diverse groups, and embodies the YMCA’s core values. Experience in customer service, sales, or related fields, along with basic computer proficiency and comfort in using software programs, will help ensure success in this role. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid within 30 days of hire

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention
  • conduct interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members
  • sells memberships

  • helps members connect with one another and the YMCA
  • handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues
  • applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services
  • may hand out locker keys and towels
  • monitors the wellness center and locker rooms as required
  • perform membership sign-up and program registration for all branch specific programs and services, from sign-up/registration through receipting and other required data entry
  • enforce rules to ensure a safe environment at all times in the Wellness Center
