Job Description

Variety - The Children's Charity of the Delaware Valley is a well-established nonprofit organization headquartered in Worcester, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The organization is dedicated to enriching the lives of children and young adults with disabilities through a wide range of social, educational, and vocational programs. These initiatives aim to nurture independence, build self-confidence, and prepare participants for life, offering meaningful support to families and individuals across the five-county Philadelphia area, southern New Jersey, and Delaware. Known for its commitment to making a tangible impact, Variety operates with a mission-driven focus anchored in community service and empowerment for people with disabilities.

The Parking Attendant role at Variety is a part-time, in-person position that plays a vital operational role during campus events, particularly on Saturdays with occasional Sunday shifts. Reporting directly to the Director of Facilities and Construction, this position is responsible for monitoring and supporting leasing groups on campus, ensuring safe and orderly management of vehicle and foot traffic. With access to valuable equipment and keys, the Parking Attendant is entrusted with a high level of responsibility to protect property and maintain professionalism in all interactions. This role requires consistent engagement with campus visitors, volunteers, and staff, where the attendant acts as a representative of Variety and is expected to uphold the organization's standards in appearance, communication, and behavior.

Key duties include supervising the opening and closing of the entry gate, directing visitor parking and movement to designated areas such as the turf field, enforcing campus rules such as speed limits and pedestrian pathways, and preventing unauthorized access to programming areas. The Parking Attendant may also operate Variety golf carts if approved by Human Resources, contributing to efficient mobility and support across the campus. Another important aspect of the position is to ensure the safety and proper conduct of all visitors, especially with regard to supervised minors, guiding them to appropriate guardians when needed.

This role requires a mix of vigilance, respect for policy, and strong interpersonal communication skills. The attendant regularly supervises areas such as the gymnasium and turf field, enforcing campus rules and regulations to guarantee a safe environment for all guests. Beyond primary responsibilities, the attendant is encouraged to participate in relevant workshops and staff meetings to stay informed and aligned with organizational goals and professional standards. Overall, the position offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the safe and smooth operation of Variety’s campus activities, supporting the organization’s mission by ensuring a welcoming and secure environment for visitors and program participants alike.
