The role of the Cook at Telos is crucial in maintaining the health standards and dietary requirements necessary for its students and staff members. This position is a full-time role with a typical time commitment of 30 to 40 hours per week, scheduled from Friday to Sunday. The Cook reports directly to the Kitchen Director and works as part of a dedicated kitchen team responsible for delivering well-balanced and healthy meals. The Cook’s responsibilities include preparing meals for up to 100 individuals, including both students and staff, following specific guidelines provided by a dietician and nursing director.
At Telos, the Cook is expected to ensure that all meals accommodate special dietary needs prescribed by medical professionals while also providing variety and nutrition that support the overall health and wellbeing of those served. Attention to safe food handling and storage procedures is paramount, with the role requiring adherence to strict hygiene and safety standards to create a safe and clean kitchen environment. The Cook also participates in special events, preparing large meals for Family Days that occur five times annually, demonstrating the importance of flexibility and ability to manage larger-scale food preparation.
This role demands organizational skills, dependability, and proactive engagement, as well as the ability to work under supervision while completing various assignments.
