Job Description
St. Thomas More Catholic Parish is a faith-centered religious community committed to fostering spiritual growth, worship, and service among its members. The parish plays an essential role in promoting Catholic traditions and sacraments, enriching the spiritual lives of its congregants through various ministries and outreach programs. With a supportive and welcoming environment, St. Thomas More Catholic Parish seeks to uphold the values and teachings of the Catholic Church in every aspect of parish life. Their dedication to service and faith makes them a cornerstone of the local Catholic community. The parish operates with a strong emphasis on community involvement, spiritual education, and compassionate care, all rooted in the doctrines and teachings of the Catholic faith.
The Wedding Coordinator role at St. Thomas More Catholic Parish is a pivotal position dedicated to ensuring that each parish wedding is a beautiful, seamless, and prayerful celebration of love. This full-time position requires a highly organized and faith-filled individual who is capable of guiding couples through the intricacies of planning their sacramental wedding ceremonies. The Wedding Coordinator will work closely with engaged couples, church staff, maintenance teams, musicians, and other coordinators to plan every detail of wedding rehearsals and ceremonies. Responsibilities include reviewing monthly wedding spreadsheets to assign coordinators, leading meetings with engaged couples 2-4 weeks prior to their weddings, providing comprehensive support throughout the planning process, and overseeing the setup and cleanup of the facilities. In addition to logistical tasks, the coordinator will also serve sacristan duties such as setting up communion and occasionally acting as a Eucharistic Minister during the ceremonies.
This role demands excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of Catholic liturgical practices to ensure weddings are conducted according to Church guidelines and traditions. The Wedding Coordinator will also collaborate closely with the Director of Marriage and Family Life as well as the Director of Liturgy to align all activities with the parish’s liturgical standards. Participation in department meetings, trainings, and annual performance reviews is an integral part of the role. Physical stamina is necessary as the position requires standing, walking, kneeling, lifting, and moving objects up to 25 pounds throughout the event preparations.
The ideal candidate will be a fully initiated Catholic who lives according to the Church's precepts and is mandated, or willing to be mandated, as a Eucharistic Minister. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, and email communication is required. Above all, this role is more than an administrative position; it calls for a compassionate servant leader who can foster a spirit of prayerful celebration and support couples as they embark on their lifelong journey together. If you are passionate about faith-based service and have the organization and interpersonal skills to manage complex event planning within a liturgical setting, St. Thomas More Catholic Parish welcomes your application to join their meaningful mission.
