The Warehouse Operations Supervisor role at Tempur Sealy is vital for ensuring facility safety, productivity, and inventory accuracy. This position involves supervising a team of non-exempt employees, motivating them to meet top standards for safety, quality, and productivity. The supervisor will oversee receiving, inspection, and shipping operations, ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws applicable to the bedding industry. This involves maintaining warehouse operations by initiating and enforcing policies along with focusing on continuous improvement.

The Warehouse Operations Supervisor also ensures a safe working environment by implementing a robust safety program aimed at accident prevention. They provide expertise in Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSCA) compliance, safeguarding warehouse contents through stringent security protocols. Inventory control is a key responsibility, involving physical counts and system reconciliations. Also, the role requires managing the physical condition of the warehouse by planning new layouts, inspecting equipment, and issuing necessary repairs or replacements.

This leadership position includes meeting financial objectives by developing associates, boosting productivity, and adhering to procedures. The supervisor schedules and assigns work, follows up on results, and is responsible for recruiting, orienting, and training warehouse employees. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5 plus years of warehouse, distribution, logistics, or delivery experience
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control processes
  • Experience with warehouse technology including layout, slotting, scanning, and bin locations
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • Ability to enforce safety and security protocols
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to provide coaching and development to team members
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws related to warehousing and shipping

Job Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of inventory control processes
  • Demonstrated experience in a warehouse environment utilizing technology such as layout, slotting, scanning, bin locations
  • Leadership ability to influence others to perform their jobs effectively and be responsible for decision making
  • Management skills with ability to organize and direct oneself and supervise others effectively

  • Minimum of 5 years of warehouse, distribution, logistics, and delivery experience

Job Duties

  • Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures with focus on continuous improvement
  • Complies with federal, state, and local laws pertaining to warehouse, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, advising management on needed actions
  • Ensure safe work environment for all associates with robust Safety Program to create accident-free work areas
  • Provided DOT and FMSCA expertise to ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local requirements
  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols
  • Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts, reconciling with data storage system
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts, inspecting equipment, issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement
  • Achieves financial objectives by developing associates and monitoring adherence to procedures while motivating associates to hit productivity standards
  • Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results
  • Maintains warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
