The Warehouse Associate role is integral to Staples' supply chain operations. This role involves working various positions within the warehouse including order picking, restocking, bulk selecting, and custodial duties. The primary responsibility is to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and safety of product handling and preparation for shipment, which directly impacts customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. Associates in this role will work Monday through Friday from 4:30 pm to 10:30 pm, with pay for performance incentives that allow employees to earn additional compensation by meeting productivity goals. Safety is a key priority, and associates are expected to adhere strictly to all safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
Warehouse Associates perform duties such as picking customer orders with precision, scanning and restocking inventory, selecting and packing merchandise, and maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout the facility. Flexibility is required as associates may be assigned to different roles within the warehouse depending on operational needs. The work environment involves seasonal temperature variations and requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the entire shift. Staples provides the necessary safety footwear and promotes a culture of inclusivity and collaboration among colleagues.
This position requires an ability to perform basic arithmetic operations, effective communication skills in English, and a commitment to safety protocols. The physical demands include lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, or carrying products up to 70 pounds by hand. Job Requirements
- Ability to work assigned schedule and be accountable for assigned tasks
- Ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines
- Basic English language skills both verbal and written
- Ability to work additional hours including overtime if hired full-time
- Ability to lift, lower, push, pull or carry items up to 70 pounds
- Must wear safety composite shoes
- Ability to walk and stand 100 percent of the time
- Must be at least 18 years old
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience
- Prior warehouse or applicable experience such as fast-food with headset usage, stockroom operations, working with racking systems, customer service, or package handling
- Basic English language skills both verbal and written
- Ability to adopt and follow safety procedures quickly
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with seasonal temperature variations
Job Duties
- Pick and prepare customer orders accurately and timely to meet daily production goals
- Scan labels, cut boxes, and restock shelves
- Select product, pull and pack totes, cut cases of merchandise, and stock product
- Move full totes and cases onto conveyor belts
- Perform general cleaning and basic maintenance duties inside and outside of the facility
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, vacuum, mop floors, and dust furniture
- Adhere to safety procedures and promote a safety culture within the warehouse
