Job Description
Union Supply Group is a dynamic company specializing in wholesale distribution and supply chain solutions. Known for their commitment to quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, Union Supply Group operates with a strong focus on reliability and professionalism in the warehousing and transportation sectors. The company caters to diverse markets, ensuring timely delivery of goods and upholding high standards across all operational facets. They are dedicated to fostering a safe and supportive work environment for all employees, emphasizing teamwork and continuous improvement.
The Warehouse Associate/Backup Driver position at Union Supply Group is a critical role that combines warehousing expertise with the responsibility of commercial driving. This hybrid role demands versatility as the associate is expected to smoothly transition between warehouse operations and delivering route shipments, particularly involving 26 ft box trucks and commercial passenger vehicles like buses. The position reports directly to the Warehouse Manager and Fleet Manager and plays an integral part in supporting distribution center activities as well as fulfilling customer delivery requirements.
This role requires the Warehouse Associate/Backup Driver to perform a broad array of warehouse tasks including receiving freight shipments, verifying inventory against invoices, marking and rotating stock, picking and packing orders with quality control procedures, and securing loads for delivery. On the driving side, the associate is tasked with driving commercial vehicles safely in compliance with federal and state regulations, maintaining truck logs, conducting pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensuring secure and prompt delivery of merchandise to customers. Notably, the position includes regular weekly overnight deliveries to Texas, highlighting the need for dependable schedule adherence and effective route management.
Union Supply Group offers a Safety and Service Incentive Plan that awards quarterly bonuses, underscoring their commitment to workplace safety and excellent service standards. Applicants for this role must have a minimum of six months driving experience with straight trucks or similar equipment, along with at least one year of general warehouse or retail experience. Possession of an active DOT Medical Card or the ability to obtain one is mandatory to meet federal transportation safety standards. A clean personal and driving record is essential, reflecting the company’s high standards for reliability and professionalism.
Physical demands include handling heavy pallets using pallet jacks and manually stacking boxes over 50 pounds, which requires adequate strength and stamina. The associate must be able to operate independently, demonstrate punctuality, and pass a background check prior to employment. Additionally, the company partakes in E-Verify to ensure work authorization compliance.
Union Supply Group is committed to Equal Employment Opportunity, prohibiting any form of discrimination or harassment regardless of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected attributes. This policy ensures a fair and inclusive workplace where all employees are valued and able to thrive.
