Job Description

Sharing Excess is a rapidly growing national non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing surplus food and redistributing it to communities in need at no cost to the consumer. By diverting over 200,000 pounds of food from landfills weekly, Sharing Excess is tackling food scarcity and waste on a large scale, having rescued over 80 million pounds of food to date. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to stand for extended periods up to 7 hours
  • must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
  • able to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions
  • comfortable working in cooler warehouse temperatures
  • reliable personal vehicle or transportation due to industrial location
  • available to work weekdays 10 am to 3 pm, with scheduling flexibility for occasional early or late shifts

Job Qualifications

  • Available 10 am - 3 pm Monday to Friday
  • forklift certification preferred
  • must have a personal vehicle or reliable transportation
  • comfortable working in a temperature-controlled warehouse environment
  • ability to work well in a close-knit team
  • able to lift up to 75 pounds
  • able to stand for extended periods
  • experience with warehouse operations preferred but not required

Job Duties

  • Inspecting produce and sorting edible vs non-edible food
  • setting up, breaking down, and general upkeep of food sorting area
  • weighing food donations with a pallet scale
  • helping maintain accurate records of food donations
  • supervising and training on-site volunteer produce sorters, when applicable
  • packing produce in boxes ready for distribution
  • moving pallets of produce with an electrical power jack
  • helping coordinate and move food from the sorting area to the loading dock or external vehicles
  • maintaining a safe and clean warehouse environment
