The Ward Clerk role at Calcasieu Community Care Center, part of the CommCare Corporation family, is an essential position that supports the facility’s nursing team and overall operations. This role functions within the nursing station, serving as a linchpin for efficient communication, organization, and coordination throughout the center. In this role, the Ward Clerk manages a multitude of administrative activities, including answering and directing phone calls, welcoming visitors, overseeing documentation, and maintaining accurate patient records. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- additional training in office administration or healthcare administration is a plus
- proven experience in a clerical or administrative role, preferably in a healthcare setting
- proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office applications and electronic medical records systems
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
- ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- understanding medical terminology and healthcare processes is a plus

- has not been excluded from participating in Medicare and Medicaid programs
- maintains eligibility to participate in Medicare and Medicaid programs throughout employment
- participate in pre-employment and annual Tuberculosis screening
Job Duties
- Coordinate and manage activities at the nurses station efficiently
- perform receptionist duties including answering phone calls and greeting visitors
- execute general clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying, and faxing documents
- maintain accurate and organized patient records and other essential paperwork
- utilize computer skills to input, update, and retrieve information from electronic systems
- collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure smooth communication and workflow
- assist in scheduling appointments and managing patient admissions and discharges
- uphold confidentiality and privacy standards in handling sensitive information
- perform other duties, as assigned
