Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • One year of customer service experience in a hospitality environment preferred
  • Food handlers card ANSI-approved VA State certificate required within 30 days
  • Allergen awareness certification ANSI-approved VA State certificate required within 180 days
  • Ability to communicate effectively with seniors and team members
  • Ability to follow hygiene and safety standards
  • Ability to use Food Service software and hardware
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts and wear facility-approved uniform
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Follow standard service protocols as outlined in the Dining Service Training manual ensuring residents and guests are greeted and seated in a timely fashion and meals are delivered graciously and promptly
  • Understand and be sensitive to the needs and preferences of seniors and guests, professionally handling all requests or concerns regarding meal service
  • Work closely with kitchen team to ensure all orders are prepared accurately
  • Support team members to provide seamless, timely, and accurate meal service
  • Complete daily opening and closing side work including restocking supplies and cold food prep
  • Assemble resident trays accurately according to menu and dietary restrictions
  • Exhibit knowledge of menu details and resident accounting procedures
  • Use Food Service software and hardware for order processing
  • Adhere to all Dining Services quality controls, policies, and procedures
  • Exhibit safe food handling practices including glove use, hair restraints, labeling, dating, temperature monitoring, and food rotation
  • Follow proper table serving and clearing techniques
  • Set up and break down dining rooms while adhering to sanitation and disinfecting procedures
  • Assist in maintaining residents' self-respect, dignity, and physical safety
  • Use time management effectively and maintain punctuality
  • Wear facility-approved uniform for all scheduled shifts
