Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of professional server experience
- availability to work part-time primarily Fridays through Mondays evenings
- willingness to work some weekday mornings and evenings
- ability to maintain safe food handling practices
- ability to communicate effectively with guests and staff
- confidentiality in handling personal or medical information
- physical capability to perform job duties including standing and operating equipment
- basic cash handling skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum 1 year of professional server experience
- experience in an assisted living facility preferred
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation
- ability to work effectively in a team environment
- capability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information
- flexibility to work evenings and weekends as scheduled
Job Duties
- Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
- take food and beverage orders efficiently following established steps of service
- deliver food promptly and professionally maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
- follow up periodically to assist with any additional needs or requests
- demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients
- advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks
- accommodate reasonable requests and note preferences
- demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens
- communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure orders are correct and special requests accommodated
- exhibit exceptional communication skills and ability to get along well with others
- remain flexible and patient when communicating with guests and staff
- collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures
- promote a clean, safe and neat environment for guests
- maintain high sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information
- promptly address complaints or issues and relay information to supervisors
- ensure dining room is properly set up prior to and after service periods
- operate equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells and coffee machines
- work with staff of other departments during special events and functions
- perform other duties as assigned
