Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of professional server experience
  • availability to work part-time primarily Fridays through Mondays evenings
  • willingness to work some weekday mornings and evenings
  • ability to maintain safe food handling practices
  • ability to communicate effectively with guests and staff
  • confidentiality in handling personal or medical information
  • physical capability to perform job duties including standing and operating equipment
  • basic cash handling skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 1 year of professional server experience
  • experience in an assisted living facility preferred
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • capability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information
  • flexibility to work evenings and weekends as scheduled

Job Duties

  • Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
  • take food and beverage orders efficiently following established steps of service
  • deliver food promptly and professionally maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
  • follow up periodically to assist with any additional needs or requests
  • demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients
  • advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks
  • accommodate reasonable requests and note preferences
  • demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens
  • communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure orders are correct and special requests accommodated
  • exhibit exceptional communication skills and ability to get along well with others
  • remain flexible and patient when communicating with guests and staff
  • collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures
  • promote a clean, safe and neat environment for guests
  • maintain high sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information
  • promptly address complaints or issues and relay information to supervisors
  • ensure dining room is properly set up prior to and after service periods
  • operate equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells and coffee machines
  • work with staff of other departments during special events and functions
  • perform other duties as assigned
