Situated at Alexian Village Tennessee in Signal Mountain, this full-time position for a Waiter/Waitress offers a rewarding opportunity within a compassionate team. The chosen candidate will play a vital role in the foodservice operations, taking food and beverage orders, serving meals efficiently, and providing stellar customer service to ensure guest satisfaction in a healthcare dining environment. This role necessitates a warm and attentive demeanor, with an emphasis on maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. The work schedule encompasses varying days and hours, including weekends and holidays, demanding open availability and flexibility. Compensation is set at a fixed pay rate of $15.00 per hour.

This Waiter/Waitress position requires the ability to interact respectfully and respectfully with patients, families, and visitors, ensuring a positive dining experience that supports the overall mission of improved health outcomes. Candidates are expected to have at least one year of prior experience in a similar server role, enabling them to understand and anticipate guest needs effectively. The job involves upholding strict sanitation and safety protocols, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of menu items and special dietary requirements including allergens, and maintaining confidentiality regarding personal or medical information. Candidates will also collaborate closely with kitchen staff to ensure accurate and timely order delivery and handle guest concerns promptly by escalating issues to supervisors as necessary. Further responsibilities include maintaining the cleanliness and setup of the dining area, operating various equipment safely, and assisting with special events and functions to support the larger team.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • at least 1 year of prior server experience preferred
  • ability to work full time with open availability including weekends and holidays
  • ability to maintain safe food handling practices
  • ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  • physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform assigned duties
  • ability to maintain confidentiality

Job Duties

  • Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
  • take food and beverages orders efficiently following established service steps
  • deliver food promptly and professionally maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
  • follow up periodically to assist with additional guest needs or requests
  • demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients advising guests on appropriate food and drink combinations
  • accommodate reasonable requests and note preferences including knowledge of specialized diets and allergens
  • communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure correct order delivery
  • exhibit exceptional communication skills and maintain flexibility and patience with guests and staff
  • collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures
  • promote a clean, safe and neat environment for guests
  • maintain high sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information
  • promptly address complaints or issues relaying relevant details to supervisor
  • ensure dining room setup and cleanliness before and after service periods
  • operate various equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea and soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines
  • work with other departments' staff during special events and functions
  • perform other duties as assigned
