Job Requirements

  • Previous catering or food service experience preferred
  • ability to work on an on-call schedule with varying days and hours
  • must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
  • ability to communicate effectively with guests and staff
  • must maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • ability to follow safe food handling and sanitation procedures
  • basic cash handling skills
  • must be able to operate service equipment
  • willing to work in Troy, NY location
  • legal authorization to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous catering or food service experience preferred
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to work on an on-call schedule with flexible hours
  • basic math skills for handling cash transactions
  • ability to understand and communicate menu item details including allergens
  • customer service oriented
  • ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • cooking experience is a plus

Job Duties

  • Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
  • takes food and beverage orders efficiently following established service steps
  • deliver food promptly and professionally while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
  • demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients and advise guests on appropriate food and drink combinations
  • communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure correct order delivery and accommodation of special requests
  • exhibit exceptional communication skills and maintain a flexible and patient demeanor with guests and staff
  • collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures
  • promote a clean, safe, and neat dining environment
  • maintain sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information
  • promptly address complaints or issues and relay relevant information to supervisors
  • ensure the dining room is properly set up before and after service periods
  • operate equipment including fire extinguishers and beverage machines
  • collaborate with other departments during special events and functions
  • perform other duties as assigned
