NYU Langone Health is currently offering an exciting career opportunity for a Waiter/Bartender to join their catering services team. This position is responsible for supporting a variety of catering functions by setting up service areas, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring guests receive excellent service consistent with contract expectations. The role involves providing food and beverage service during catered events, including sit-down dinners, buffets, and receptions, while managing bar activities such as stocking, ice supply, and glassware maintenance. The successful Waiter/Bartender plays an integral role in the seamless execution of catering functions, focusing on both guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
The candidate will be expected to maintain inventory control for catering storage, liquor cabinets, and setup areas, carefully clean and reset rooms after events, and follow strict sanitation and safety standards. This position also requires the ability to communicate effectively with catering management and guests, perform a variety of tasks assigned by supervisors, and ensure that all service contracts are properly executed and documented. Attention to detail is critical, as the Waiter/Bartender will prepare bars with necessary supplies and condiments, assemble place settings, and verify food and drink orders to meet contractual requirements.
The employment type offered for this role is hourly wage, with a salary rate of $27.44 per hour, consistent with New York state salary transparency laws. This role requires prior catering or restaurant experience, as well as excellent communication skills in English. Preferred candidates will have at least two years of experience in a similar environment. - Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Ability to understand and carry out simple oral and written instructions
- Minimum of two years experience in a catering or restaurant service environment preferred

Job Duties
- Provide service during catered functions in accordance with contract requirements
- Maintain a constant flow of bar service including stocking ice and supplies and clearing used items
- Clean bar and function room upon completion of events, including removing used equipment and resetting the room
- Follow sanitation and safety standards and report any hazardous conditions or equipment defects
- Assist in various party service areas as directed by supervisors or managers
- Set up function rooms and bars according to contract specifications, including preparing place settings and bar garnishes
- Perform related tasks such as picking up orders, delivering supplies, and attending training sessions
