Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum two years front waiter experience in fine dining or banquet service
  • experience selling and serving wine and other beverages
  • intermediate to advanced English skills, verbal and written
  • knowledge of safety and environmental policies and procedures
  • ability to work seven days a week
  • must be physically capable to perform shipboard duties including maintaining balance, climbing ladders and stairs, lifting up to 40 pounds, and standing for prolonged periods
  • ability to live in close quarters with cabin-mates
  • professional appearance and good hygiene
  • passion for hospitality and customer service
  • willingness to comply with all safety policies and procedures
  • must hold Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) or be able to obtain it

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years experience as a front waiter with fine dining and banquet service experience in 3 Star to 4 Star hotels, free-standing restaurants with at least 180 seats or previous shipboard experience in a similar position
  • minimum of two years experience selling and serving wine and other beverage products
  • intermediate to advanced level English verbal and writing skills, including proper use of grammar
  • high school diploma, secondary education degree or equivalent
  • courses or training in safety, environmental, public health and sanitation regulations and procedures
  • professional appearance and good hygiene
  • ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • flexible to schedule changes and deadlines

Job Duties

  • Assist with achieving departmental guest satisfaction targets and food and beverage revenues by following established service strategies and optimizing up-sell opportunities
  • perform other related duties as assigned or as directed
  • be familiar with Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and SEMS and carry out policies and procedures appropriate for position
  • ensure assigned station is properly set up with required china, glassware, silverware and mis-en-place prior to service
  • comply with sequence of service for food and beverage and follow waiters' lead to ensure timely service
  • resolve service and product deficiencies to ensure guest satisfaction
  • ensure assigned station is cleaned and set up at end of meal period and all side-work is complete
  • man non-cooking buffet action stations such as carving and dessert stations
  • deliver food and beverage orders and amenities to guests' staterooms
  • assist with private parties and functions
  • field guest phone orders and handle according to procedures
  • clear service trays from staterooms, corridors and pantries in timely manner
