Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum two years experience in fine dining or banquet service or similar shipboard role
Experience selling and serving wines and beverages
Intermediate to advanced verbal and written English skills
Training in safety, environmental, public health and sanitation procedures
Ability to work flexible hours including seven days a week
Physical capability to meet US Coast Guard shipboard duties requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
Ability to climb ladders and stairs
Must maintain balance while walking and standing
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods
Capable of performing emergency procedures such as using fire hoses and personal flotation devices
Good hygiene and professional appearance
Willingness to live in shared cabin quarters

Job Qualifications

Minimum of two years experience as a front waiter with fine dining and banquet service in a 3 to 4 star land-based hotel, resort, free-standing restaurant with at least 180 seats, or previous shipboard experience in similar position
Minimum two years experience selling and serving wine and other beverage products
Intermediate to advanced English verbal and writing skills including proper use of English grammar
High school diploma, secondary education degree or equivalent
Training in safety, environmental, public health and sanitation regulations and procedures
Passionate about hospitality and customer service
Professional appearance and good hygiene
Respect for co-workers and guests
Able to work seven days a week
Demonstrate positive behaviors such as smiling, politeness, and courtesy
Ability to develop camaraderie with team members
Ability to live in close quarters sharing limited space with cabin mates

Job Duties

Assist with achieving departmental guest satisfaction targets and food and beverage revenues by following established service strategies and optimizing up-sell opportunities
Perform other related duties as assigned or as directed
Be familiar with and carry out Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and SEMS procedures appropriate for the position
Ensure the assigned station is properly setup with required china, glassware, silverware and mis-en-place prior to service
Comply with sequence of service for food and beverage and follow instructions of waiters to ensure timely service
Resolve any service or product deficiencies to ensure guest satisfaction in assigned station
Properly clean and set up the assigned station at the end of meal period and complete all assigned side-work
Man the non-cooking buffet action stations as needed
Deliver food and beverage orders and amenities to guests' staterooms per company procedures
Assist with private parties and functions
Handle guest phone orders and clear service trays in a timely manner
Provide quality in-room food and beverage service and assist with setup and service of functions and parties
