Job Requirements

  • Must be able to assist 1-2 waiters servicing 16 to 32 seat workstations
  • able to carry up to 12 covers on a waiter tray or 16 glasses
  • knowledge of service requirements and styles across various meal periods and restaurant concepts
  • ability to work in a multicultural environment and adapt to changes in schedule
  • must hold a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) and meet required physical abilities
  • able to maintain balance, climb ladders, step over obstacles, move through restricted openings, open watertight doors, lift at least 40 pounds, manipulate tools, crouch, kneel, crawl, stand for extended hours, react to alarms, perform normal conversation, and wear a Personal Flotation Device without assistance

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years experience as a front waiter with fine dining and banquet service experience in 3-star to 4-star hotels, large restaurants, or similar shipboard positions
  • minimum of two years experience selling and serving wine and other beverage products
  • intermediate to advanced level English verbal and writing skills including proper grammar
  • high school diploma, secondary education degree or equivalent
  • courses or training in safety, environmental, public health, and sanitation regulations and procedures
  • passionate about hospitality and customer service
  • professional appearance and good hygiene
  • respect for co-workers and guests
  • able to work 7 days a week
  • able to live in close quarters with cabin-mates

Job Duties

  • Assist with achieving departmental guest satisfaction targets and food and beverage revenues by following established service strategies and optimizing up-sell opportunities
  • perform other related duties as assigned or directed
  • be familiar with safety and environmental protection policies and carry out appropriate procedures
  • ensure assigned station is properly set up with necessary china, glassware, silverware, and mis-en-place before service
  • comply with sequence of service for food and beverage and follow instructions from waiters to ensure timeliness
  • resolve any service or product deficiencies
  • ensure assigned station is cleaned and side-work completed after meal periods
  • perform other jobs as assigned including manning non-cooking buffet action stations
  • deliver food and beverage orders and amenities to guest staterooms
  • assist with private parties and functions
  • field guest phone orders and clear service trays in timely manner
