The Waiter position onboard the Pride of America is a full-time role that offers a competitive hourly wage of $16.50 and comes with valuable benefits such as health insurance and employee discounts. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional dining services, enhancing guests’ overall cruise experience by adhering to high standards of hospitality and service. You will actively participate in achieving departmental goals related to guest satisfaction and food and beverage revenues by applying established service strategies and optimizing up-sell opportunities.

Your duties will include ensuring that guest service protocols are meticulously followed, overseeing the cleanliness and preparation of your assigned station, and working closely with Assistant Waiters to maintain a smooth and timely service flow. You will also have responsibilities related to safety and environmental policies, ensuring compliance with established standards suitable for the maritime environment. This position requires a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced, guest-focused setting and is adaptable to diverse service scenarios, from formal dining to buffet stations and private events.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of two years experience as a front waiter with fine dining and banquet service experience in a 3 Star - 4 Star land-based hotel/resort or free-standing restaurant with at least 180 seats or previous shipboard experience in a similar position
  • Minimum of one year experience selling and serving wine and other beverage products
  • Must have a professional appearance and good hygiene
  • Able to work 7 days a week

Job Duties

  • Assist with achieving departmental guest satisfaction targets and food and beverage revenues by following established service strategies and optimizing up-sell opportunities
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed
  • Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SEMS and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position
  • Ensures that assigned station is properly cleaned and set-up at the end of the meal period and that all assigned side-work is complete
  • Complies with sequence of service for food and beverage and directs and instructs Assistant Waiters to ensure timeliness of service to guests
  • Resolves any service and/or product deficiencies that may occur to ensure satisfaction of service with guests in assigned station
  • Performs other jobs as assigned including manning non-cooking buffet action stations such as carving station and dessert station, delivering amenities on embarkation day, assisting with Room Service deliveries, private parties and functions, and conducting service training with Assistant Waiters and Restaurant Stewards
