The role of a Wait Staff Tipped at Sodexo, specifically located at Jay Paul @ Poppy & Claro in San Jose, offers a full-time opportunity with a pay rate of $20 per hour. This position involves providing excellent customer service in a restaurant setting, ensuring guests enjoy a professional, friendly, and attentive experience. The Wait Staff serves a wide range of made-to-order entrees, appetizers, desserts, and beverages. Key responsibilities include greeting and seating guests, presenting menus, introducing special dishes or menu changes, and offering knowledgeable recommendations regarding meals, beverages, and wines. The staff must be able to answer guests' questions about menu items, allergens, and preparation techniques effectively.
Additionally, the Wait Staff must accurately take and communicate orders to the kitchen, confirm orders with guests to ensure satisfaction, and monitor all items for quality and presentation. Attending to guests' needs promptly and addressing any concerns with professionalism is vital to the role. Physical demands of the position include the ability to stand or walk for extended periods during shifts that may exceed eight hours, the capability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally, and perform repetitive motions. Athletic flexibility such as bending, reaching, and pushing or pulling is also required. The role further necessitates the ability to use hands for handling and fine motor skills to deliver exceptional service.
Sodexo also emphasizes the importance of reliability, requiring employees to attend work and show up punctually for their scheduled shifts. While the primary duties outlined are consistent, additional responsibilities may arise depending on business necessities or client requirements. As part of joining Sodexo, employees will benefit from a flexible work environment that supports work-life balance, ongoing training and development opportunities to advance career paths, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, a 401k plan, and employee discount programs. Some locations may also provide additional perks such as free shift meals, uniforms, safety shoes, and transportation support.
Overall, Sodexo offers an enriching working experience where employees can thrive, contribute meaningfully, and be part of a diverse and supportive community. This Wait Staff Tipped position is a fantastic opportunity for individuals seeking to build a career in hospitality service within a company that values purpose and personal growth.
