Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Significant leadership-level experience in affordable housing development and preservation
  • Knowledge of financing mechanisms for affordable housing, including tax credits
  • Familiarity with local and federal housing regulations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with internal teams and external partners

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Significant leadership-level experience developing and preserving affordable housing
  • Familiarity with homeless services, behavioral health, substance use disorders, and intimate partner violence is a plus
  • Passion for advancing affordable housing, community development, and urban planning initiatives
  • Expertise in securing sustainable financing for affordable housing projects, including strong understanding of LIHTC
  • Comprehensive understanding of local and federal housing regulations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain strong, positive relationships with diverse stakeholders

Job Duties

  • Leverage relationships with industry firms and government stakeholders to build and execute a multi-year pipeline of affordable housing and shelter development projects
  • Promote shared understanding and alignment around the vision for housing and shelter development projects
  • Serve as VOA-GNY's expert on available and emerging loan, grant, and tax credit programs to support sustainable financing of development projects
  • Guide and manage the organization's response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for adaptive reuse of existing properties or historic structures
  • Provide effective oversight of VOA-GNY's facilities management, including assessments of properties for deferred maintenance and capital needs
  • Oversee asset management functions, ensuring tracking of leases, rental payments, arrears, and compliance with debt, regulatory, and rental subsidy requirements
  • Serve as a thought leader and public representative for VOA-GNY's real estate work at dignitary meetings and conference panels
  • Perform other related duties as requested
