Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, public administration, marketing or communications, or other closely related field
  • or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • preferred six months of supervisory experience
  • must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back program
  • scheduled to work Monday through Friday, with some nights and weekends required

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, public administration, marketing or communications, or other closely related field
  • six months of supervisory experience preferred
  • knowledge of marketing strategies and techniques used in volunteer programs
  • knowledge of volunteer development and management
  • knowledge of management and supervisory principles and practices
  • knowledge of computer software related to job-specific duties
  • knowledge of event coordination
  • ability to provide leadership and direction
  • ability to develop and give effective presentations
  • ability to exercise good analytical judgment
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the community and private organizations
  • ability to act independently
  • ability to relate to the interests and needs of adults passionate about animals
  • ability to organize workloads and prioritize tasks to adhere to deadlines
  • ability to interact with customers in a way that provides superior customer service
  • ability to relate to individuals from various social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds

Job Duties

  • Recruits, selects, orients, and trains volunteers on policies and procedures
  • develops volunteer job descriptions and prepares training materials
  • participates in the development of an annual recruitment plan
  • functions as a liaison between volunteers and program staff
  • works with staff to identify needs and opportunities for volunteers and designs programs to fill those needs
  • develops promotional materials for recruitment and public outreach
  • monitors and evaluates the daily work of volunteers
  • processes the enrollment of volunteers following program and division procedures and Federal, State, and County rules and regulations
  • maintains current schedules, attendance records, and other files regarding volunteers
  • ensures adherence to Federal, State, and County regulations regarding funding sources
  • plans recognition events for individuals and service groups
  • represents the agency's volunteer program to the public
  • works with the Communications Manager in preparing articles and public service announcements and distributes program and agency recruitment materials
  • resolves issues that may arise involving volunteers or the program
  • creates and maintains a variety of records, reports, and correspondence
  • manages outcome data collection as part of reporting requirements
  • creates and manages a centralized schedule for Arts & Culture events to ensure proper scheduling for staff (volunteers and paid employees)
