The role of Volunteer Engagement Coordinator within the Society of St. Vincent de Paul plays a crucial part in advancing the organization's mission by focusing on the growth, retention, and recognition of volunteers. Reporting to the Director of Volunteer Engagement, this non-exempt position supports the Volunteer Engagement Office in all capacities, from managing volunteer operations to facilitating enriching experiences for both volunteers and the community. The Coordinator serves as a bridge between the Society and various community groups, particularly Catholic elementary and high schools, fostering partnerships and creating service opportunities that align with the organization's values and mission. This role involves engaging with volunteers on multiple levels, ensuring their experiences are rewarding and meaningful to inspire continued participation.
As Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, the person in this role will handle volunteer engagement workflows, including inquiry, onboarding, placement, retention, and appreciation. They will maintain accurate and comprehensive volunteer records and schedules, provide excellent customer service by responding timely to volunteer inquiries, and assist with orientation and safety training to ensure compliance with organizational policies. Additionally, the Coordinator will support the planning and execution of volunteer appreciation events and recognition programs that celebrate volunteer contributions, which include annual appreciation dinners and milestone awards. Collecting and acting on volunteer feedback will play an important role in shaping retention strategies and improving the overall volunteer experience.
The position also requires being an ambassador for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, representing the organization at community events and serving as a model of the Society’s mission and values. The Coordinator will build and sustain partnerships with Catholic schools, working with administrators and teachers to create age-appropriate, mission-aligned service projects with educational outcomes and sound safety practices. Volunteer recruitment efforts will involve collaborating closely with the Vincentian Engagement Support Services team to coordinate conference-based volunteer needs and outreach activities such as parish drives and ministry fairs, utilizing toolkits and gathering feedback to optimize volunteer outreach and retention.
Moreover, the role emphasizes team collaboration as part of the Mission Engagement Team, contributing to a positive and communicative working environment where team members support each other and engage in joint problem solving. The Coordinator must be adaptable, willing to work occasional early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary to fulfill volunteer engagement needs. Physical demands include the ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, and lift up to 20 pounds, as well as travel regularly within the state, requiring a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Job Requirements
- Associates degree from accredited college
- Minimum 1 year experience working with volunteers or in-person customer service
- Completed OFE training within first 6 months of hire
- Able to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach and lift up to 20 pounds
- Valid driver’s license and clean 39-month motor vehicle record
- Able to be put on SVdP company vehicle insurance or have own reliable transportation
- Willingness to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays

Job Duties
- Learn and support end-to-end volunteer engagement workflows including inquiry, onboarding, placement, retention, appreciation
- Maintain accurate volunteer records, schedules, and communications in volunteer management system
- Assist with volunteer orientation materials, safety training, and role descriptions
- Ensure compliance with safe environment and organizational policies
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to volunteer inquiries and assisting with placements
- Assist with planning and execution of volunteer appreciation events and recognition efforts including annual appreciation events, milestone awards, newsletters
- Gather and act on volunteer feedback to implement retention strategies and recognition best practices
- Provide tours and serve as an ambassador for SVdP
- Attend community events and tabling opportunities
- Build relationships with Catholic school administrators, campus ministers, service coordinators, and teachers
- Create age-appropriate, mission-aligned service opportunities with clear learning outcomes and risk management considerations
- Coordinate school group service days, speakers, reflections, and follow-up communications
- Partner with Vincentian Engagement Support Services team to identify volunteer needs and coordinate recruitment activities
- Assist with toolkits, talking points, and gather feedback to improve outreach and retention
- Participate actively as a Mission Engagement Team member contributing to a collaborative team environment
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Volunteer Engagement
- Willing to work some early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays
