Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- experience in social services, human services, resource management or related field preferred
- prior experience managing volunteer services or non-profit organization is a plus
- ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- strong communication skills both written and verbal
- ability to delegate tasks and monitor multiple activities at the same time
- must be able to understand, read, write, and speak English
- ability to work within established budgetary guidelines
- physical ability to perform essential functions including lifting up to 25 pounds
- ability to adapt work environment to accommodate disabilities
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- colleague degree (AS or BS) preferred
- experience in social services, human services, resource management or related field preferred
- prior experience managing volunteer services or non-profit organization is a plus
- ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
- ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
- ability to delegate and monitor multiple activities simultaneously
- proficiency in English language reading, writing, and speaking
- articulation and embrace of hospice philosophy
Job Duties
- Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team, including developing and implementing the plan of care
- promotes the use of volunteers as an intervention to support patient care needs
- actively recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and retains volunteers to support administrative and patient care needs
- adheres to human resource policies in recruitment and selection processes
- ensures prospective volunteers complete background and health screenings
- performs initial and ongoing competency evaluations
- maintains records of recruitment and retention activities
- maintains accurate records of volunteer utilization
- communicates patient and family needs to interdisciplinary team
- provides education about volunteer services to team members
- prepares reports and in-services demonstrating volunteer program effectiveness
- utilizes communication methods to retain active volunteers including newsletters and events
- delivers high quality training for new volunteers
- delivers at least 4 in-services yearly for active volunteers
- manages volunteer services with accountability for utilization and documentation
- assigns patient care and administrative volunteers, overseeing activities
- develops public service announcements regarding hospice volunteerism
- performs patient care volunteer duties as needed
- operates within budgetary guidelines
- performs other assigned duties
