Job Description

L'Arche Tahoma Hope is a nonprofit organization located in the South Puget Sound region of Washington state. It is part of the global L'Arche federation, which is dedicated to creating inclusive communities where people with and without intellectual disabilities live and work together. L'Arche Tahoma Hope focuses on fostering person-centered and relationship-oriented environments, acknowledging the shared human vulnerabilities and celebrating the unique contributions and gifts of all individuals, regardless of their abilities. The organization operates three group homes, vocational and activity programs, and outreach initiatives that encourage community involvement and social inclusion. The goal is to build a society where people of all abilities are valued and supported, and where inclusive practices are integrated in everyday life.

As a nonprofit focused on compassionate care and inclusion, L'Arche Tahoma Hope embraces a mission that transcends typical service delivery by making relationships and community the foundation of its work. The organization is guided by values of dignity, respect, and belonging, and it works to provide rich life experiences through various programs that engage both the individuals it supports and the broader community.

The Vocational and Community Programs Director is a full-time leadership position classified as non-exempt, with a salary range of $70,000 to $80,000 per year. This director role is crucial for shaping and advancing L'Arche Tahoma Hope’s vocational and community initiatives, including employment, community inclusion, activities, and educational classes offered at the Welcome Center and Farm & Gardens (Farm). Reporting to the executive leadership team, the Director is entrusted with both visionary and operational responsibilities — from program development to regulatory compliance and contract oversight. The role requires creating systems and structures to sustain and grow L'Arche’s impact in these areas, while researching innovative program models that may enhance future offerings.

The Vocational and Community Programs Director ensures that all programming reflects L'Arche's core mission and tradition, emphasizing empowerment, inclusion, and meaningful engagement. This leader supervises recruitment, orientation, training, and retention efforts for the programs team, establishing a supportive culture that aligns with organizational values. The position includes some remote work flexibility but is primarily on-site, with occasional evenings and weekends to meet programmatic needs. Key qualities sought include experience in supervision and program management, creativity in program design, adaptability to evolving organizational needs, strong organizational skills, and a heartfelt commitment to L’Arche’s mission.

Overall, this role offers a unique opportunity to lead programs that improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities while advancing community inclusion goals in a respected nonprofit environment. The Vocational and Community Programs Director plays a vital part in ensuring all community members experience belonging and potential, contributing to the sustained growth and success of L'Arche Tahoma Hope's vibrant community programs.
