Job Description
The hiring establishment is a well-established credit union that operates in the Central Valley area with its administrative offices located in Modesto, California. This credit union is dedicated to providing exceptional financial services to its members, focusing on personalized customer service and community engagement. As a financial institution, it offers a range of products and services designed to meet the diverse needs of its members, including savings and checking accounts, loans, credit cards, and other financial solutions. The credit union is committed to maintaining trustworthiness and professionalism in all member interactions, ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards such as the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
The position of Virtual Teller is a dynamic and integral role within this credit union, designed to enhance member service through technology. The Virtual Teller operates Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs) located at multiple branch locations, providing members with many of the same services offered by traditional tellers. This includes cash and check withdrawals, deposits, transfers, loan and visa payments, and cashier's checks among other financial transactions. The role requires a highly customer-focused individual who can effectively assist members while using the ITM system to facilitate seamless financial transactions.
This full-time position typically requires working 36-40 hours per week, with schedules accommodating the branch's business hours which include weekdays from 9 am to 5:30 pm (Monday to Thursday), extended hours on Fridays until 6 pm, and rotating shifts on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. Flexibility in scheduling to occasionally work early or late hours is also expected, usually with advance notice. Compensation for this Tier 4 role ranges between $21 and $26 per hour, with new hires typically offered pay near the lower to mid-point of this scale depending on their experience.
The Virtual Teller is expected to be the first point of contact for members using the ITM machines. Beyond handling transactions accurately, they play a critical role in identifying member needs and recommending beneficial credit union products and services, thus supporting the sales and service objectives of the institution. The position demands a high level of integrity, attention to detail, and professionalism. Candidates must be adept at balancing virtual cash drawers, verifying transactions against system reports, and ensuring compliance with all company policies and legal requirements during their daily work.
The ideal candidate will have more than two years of experience in customer service and cash handling, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Bilingual skills in Spanish and English are preferred, enhancing communication with a diverse member base. They must also possess strong problem-solving abilities, a thorough understanding of credit union products, and the capability to manage various priorities effectively while maintaining composure in a fast-paced environment.
Overall, the Virtual Teller position is a crucial part of the credit union’s commitment to delivering outstanding member experiences through innovative technology and knowledgeable service professionals. This role offers an excellent opportunity for those who enjoy helping others, working with financial products, and engaging with the community in a supportive and growth-oriented environment.
