Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • associate's degree or equivalent education and related training preferred
  • obtain Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor designation by passing CUNA Financial Certification Program exam
  • 1-3 years of similar or related experience

Job Duties

  • Provide consistent courteous and personal service to members
  • communicate with all AFCU members employees and staff in a friendly professional manner
  • analyze member needs and match products services to maximize member relationships with the credit union
  • open consumer account types youth certificates IRAs Coverdell HSAs etc and explain various accounts and ownership options
  • demonstrate use of automated services including ITM orientation troubleshooting Online Banking Bill Pay and ATM assistance to members
  • open new accounts revise existing accounts complete direct deposit requests and internal transfers
  • obtain documentation for business account requests and refer to business account specialists
  • recognize and refer mortgage leads to the mortgage department
  • complete transactions such as deposits withdrawals loan payments check cashing cash advances cashier's checks VISA gift travel money cards and US Savings bond redemption
  • investigate member account problems or complaints and recommend refunds
  • rent safe deposit boxes and manage related documentation and payments
  • issue instant cards via card wizard system
  • perform account maintenance including ordering checks wires stop payments fraud claims and account closures
  • make outbound calls
  • provide notary and signature guarantee services
  • accept garnishments and levies and submit for processing
  • responsible for branch goals for deposits loans debt protection GAP and MRC
  • cross offer services and make referrals for goal attainment
  • assist with business development and make onsite visits to potential SEGs
  • interview consumer loan applicants explain loan options rates terms collateral requirements prepare documents obtain proofs and credit reports and finalize loans
  • communicate with underwriters and notify members of loan decisions follow up on approved loans and HELOC closings
  • maintain current knowledge of loan products and credit union policies
  • consistently offer ancillary products on eligible loans
  • perform teller duties including opening closing and balancing branch
  • deliver quality member service and role model for new employees
  • observe safety security policies and procedures
  • maintain attention to detail to ensure accuracy of work audit and examine work timely resolve errors
  • identify product or service issues and recommend improvements
  • maintain adherence to policies procedures and regulatory requirements
  • complete required regulatory training
  • assist in security procedures
  • read internal publications
  • perform other assigned duties as required
