Job Description

Waukee-Clive Veterinary Clinic is a well-established veterinary practice located at 15151 Hickman Rd, Clive, IA. We are currently seeking a full-time Receptionist to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in shaping the client experience, serving as the first and last point of contact for animal owners at the clinic. The Receptionist will work four 10-hour days a week—Monday through Wednesday and Friday, from 7 am to 6 pm, with Thursday as the day off. Compensation for this role ranges from $18 to $22 per hour depending on experience, offering competitive pay reflective of the skills and positive attitude needed. The Receptionist’s main responsibility includes greeting clients and their pets warmly, managing phone inquiries efficiently, scheduling appointments and surgeries following the clinic's guidelines, and handling payment transactions accurately. This role demands excellent communication skills, both in person and over the phone, along with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a friendly and composed manner. A thorough understanding of veterinary terminology and an ability to manage sensitive situations compassionately is crucial. Moreover, the Receptionist will support the veterinary team, including veterinarians, technicians, assistants, groomers, and kennel staff, by ensuring smooth patient and administrative processes. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a client-facing role preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in computer use including email and internet
  • Familiarity with veterinary terminology is an asset
  • Ability to multitask and handle stressful situations calmly
  • Genuine interest in animal care and customer service
  • Ability to work full-time hours (30+ hours a week) across four 10-hour days with Thursday off
