Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior customer service or receptionist experience preferred
  • knowledge of veterinary medical terminology desirable
  • ability to use standard office and business equipment
  • proficiency with hospital computer systems preferred
  • ability to work independently and accept direction
  • strong organizational skills
  • critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • effective verbal and written communication
  • flexible schedule including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in a customer service or receptionist role preferred
  • knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures is an advantage

Job Duties

  • Receive and place calls to clients for scheduling purposes
  • prioritize multiple tasks in a calm, organized manner
  • maintain proper documentation through client and pet records including referral documentation and medical history
  • assist clients by providing instructions, information, invoices, dispensing prescription items as per veterinarian's instructions, and scheduling future appointments
  • utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and teammates
  • manage financial transactions, maintain accurate balances, follow cash and credit card handling procedures, and observe opening and closing procedures
  • provide excellent customer service and communicate professionally
  • advocate for pets through client education on preventative care, health needs, treatment recommendations, and hospital services
  • maintain a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, pets, and teammates
  • demonstrate empathy toward clients and treat pets with compassion and respect
  • utilize standard office and business equipment
  • apply knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures
  • work a flexible schedule including some weekend and holiday shifts
  • operate independently on assigned tasks while accepting direction on others
  • demonstrate organizational skills and critical thinking
  • manage stressful situations with strong verbal and written communication skills and good judgment
