Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in a veterinary or customer service role preferred
- proficiency with multi-line phone systems and computer software
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to multitask and manage stressful situations
- integrity and professionalism in handling payments and confidential information
Job Qualifications
- demonstrated commitment to mph core values
- computer knowledge including keyboarding and email/internet communication
- working knowledge of veterinary terminology with ability to pronounce, spell and understand terms
- excellent spelling and grammar skills
- ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions including emotional situations
- ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
- ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner during stressful situations
- genuine liking for animals and working in an animal care field
Job Duties
- maintain and uphold the core values and mission statement of mph
- greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
- answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
- schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines
- note in medical records the details discussed during client conversations including date, time, key points and required information
- enter accurate charges and explain invoices to show value for care provided
- collect payment when services are rendered including processing credit cards and making change
- verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
- check medical and computer records for accurate client information
- fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions to clients
- advise clients on flea/tick preventatives, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products, and other retail items
