Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a veterinary or customer service role preferred
  • proficiency with multi-line phone systems and computer software
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to multitask and manage stressful situations
  • integrity and professionalism in handling payments and confidential information

Job Qualifications

  • demonstrated commitment to mph core values
  • computer knowledge including keyboarding and email/internet communication
  • working knowledge of veterinary terminology with ability to pronounce, spell and understand terms
  • excellent spelling and grammar skills
  • ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult conditions including emotional situations
  • ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
  • ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner during stressful situations
  • genuine liking for animals and working in an animal care field

Job Duties

  • maintain and uphold the core values and mission statement of mph
  • greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
  • schedule appointments and surgeries according to hospital scheduling guidelines
  • note in medical records the details discussed during client conversations including date, time, key points and required information
  • enter accurate charges and explain invoices to show value for care provided
  • collect payment when services are rendered including processing credit cards and making change
  • verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
  • check medical and computer records for accurate client information
  • fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions to clients
  • advise clients on flea/tick preventatives, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products, and other retail items
