Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • at least 1 year of experience in a receptionist or customer service role preferably in a veterinary or healthcare environment
  • exceptional phone etiquette
  • proficiency with computer systems and communication tools
  • strong multitasking skills
  • ability to maintain attention to detail
  • ability to thrive under pressure and stressful situations
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • availability to work a four-day workweek with every other Saturday
  • ability to handle financial transactions accurately
  • willingness to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

  • working knowledge of veterinary terminology including pronunciation, spelling, and meaning

Job Duties

  • Maintain and uphold the core values and mission statement of MVP
  • greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
  • screen and route calls to appropriate staff
  • schedule appointments and surgeries following hospital scheduling guidelines
  • note details discussed during client conversations in medical records
  • enter accurate charges and explain invoices
  • collect payment for services rendered including cash, credit cards, and checks
  • verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
  • check medical and computer records for accuracy
  • fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions to clients
  • advise clients on flea/tick preventatives, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, and retail items
  • support veterinarians, technicians, veterinary assistants, groomers, and kennel staff in daily patient and client care
