Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a veterinary receptionist or customer service role preferred
  • Proficiency in computer use and multi-line phone systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work a schedule that supports operational needs
  • Commitment to compassionate client service and professionalism
  • Ability to remain calm and tactful under pressure

Job Qualifications

  • Computer knowledge including keyboarding and use of communication tools such as e-mail and internet
  • Working knowledge of veterinary terminology with correct pronunciation and spelling
  • Excellent spelling and grammar skills
  • Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult emotional situations
  • Ability to display tact and respect with clients and team members
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a confident, calm, and professional manner during stressful situations
  • Genuine liking for animals and their owners and working in an animal care field

Job Duties

  • Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP
  • Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system
  • Screen and route calls to appropriate staff and deliver messages promptly
  • Note details in medical records during client conversations
  • Enter accurate charges and explain invoices to clients
  • Collect payments including cash, credit cards, and checks
  • Verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts
  • Check and update client contact information and scan new documents to medical records
  • Fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions
  • Advise clients on preventative care and retail products such as flea/tick and heartworm preventatives
