Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a veterinary setting preferred
  • Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately
  • Strong communication skills
  • Willingness to work four 9 to 9.5 hour shifts per week
  • Flexibility to cover additional shifts if needed
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization
  • Basic computer skills for managing client records and communications

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 18 months of experience in the veterinary field preferred
  • Experience in veterinary customer service and animal handling
  • Knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members
  • Willingness to learn and cross-train in multiple roles
  • Surgical experience is a plus
  • Compassionate and warm demeanor
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail

Job Duties

  • Providing outstanding client care including client education
  • Answering telephones
  • Greeting and assisting clients
  • Gathering client and patient information
  • Keeping clients up to date on their pet's status
  • Filling medications
  • Conducting efficient client check-in and checkout
  • Scanning and uploading documents to the patient's chart
  • Managing incoming emails and text messages
  • Assisting with patient care and treatment
  • Restraining animals during blood-draws and nail-trims
  • Aiding with routine diagnostic tests such as taking radiographs and running bloodwork
  • Administering vaccines and medications under supervision
  • Maintaining and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment
  • Maintaining inventory and stocking supplies
  • Cleaning and disinfecting cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas
  • Ensuring all estimates are signed when interacting with clients
  • Monitoring hospitalized pets and aiding in post-surgical care
  • Cross-training between Receptionist and Veterinary Assistant roles as needed
