Cardinal Point Captains, Inc. (CPC) is a reputable maritime service provider known for managing and operating specialized vessels dedicated to environmental research and other marine operations. Among its fleet, CPC operates the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) research vessel, the R/V Lake Guardian. The R/V Lake Guardian is a specialized research vessel capable of accommodating up to 42 people when fully loaded, typically serving between 20 to 30 personnel during operational days. Job Requirements
- Preferred experience working in remote locations on a vessel
- experience planning menus for dietary needs and preferences of groups of 20 to 40 people
- experience maintaining budgeted meal costs
- knowledge of proper food handling, storage, and hygiene practices
- ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
- must be a member or willing to become a member of the International Organization of Masters, Mates, and Pilots union
- preferred United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential
- ability to work collegially with scientists, natural resources managers, and educators
- valid US state issued driver's license

Job Duties
- Plan and prepare varied, nutritious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- follow food safety and sanitation policies within the galley
- manage provisioning including acquisition, inventory, and cost control
- accommodate special dietary requests such as allergies, medical or religious restrictions, vegetarian and vegan diets
- maintain galley service with appropriate dishware and utensils
- provide sufficient snacks and cold foods for overnight shift personnel
- observe shipboard safety management procedures and garbage disposal regulations
