Job Description

The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation has a history that spans centuries, originating as a community deeply rooted in living off the land through farming, hunting, and fishing. Today, this rich heritage continues to shape the vibrant Sycuan Tribe, which governs the Sycuan Reservation located in the San Diego region. The Tribe is a unique entity combining cultural preservation with modern business acumen, owning and operating a state-of-the-art Casino and a Golf Resort along with multiple other business ventures. These enterprises play a vital role in fostering both economic growth and community development for the Tribe and the surrounding areas.

Sycuan is not simply a business but rather a close-knit community where people collaborate continuously toward shared goals. The Tribe’s commitment to community is evident in the inclusive, family-like environment it fosters among all its employees. Regardless of whether you work at the Casino, the Golf Resort, or within the Tribal Government division, you become an integral member of the Sycuan family.

The current opportunity available is a Seasonal Food Runner position expected to commence in April 2026 and conclude in October 2026. This role is an excellent entry-level position for those interested in hospitality and guest service within a dynamic and culturally rich environment. The Food Runner acts as a vital link between the kitchen staff and guests, ensuring that food orders are delivered promptly and accurately. The individual in this role must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact smoothly with both the Front of the House and Back of the House employees.

The position is hourly paid and mainly focuses on delivering food orders from the kitchen to the guests’ tables efficiently while maintaining superior service quality. This job requires standing and walking for extended periods, the capability to carry heavy trays, and the flexibility to work diverse shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The Food Runner also assists kitchen and service staff with maintaining cleanliness and organization in assigned areas to uphold health and safety standards. This role is critical in enhancing the guest experience by contributing to swift and courteous service, reflecting Sycuan’s dedication to excellence in hospitality.

Working at Sycuan presents a unique blend of cultural heritage celebration and modern service industry challenges. It offers an immersive experience for those passionate about community values and delivering exceptional guest service in a collaborative, supportive work environment. The role contributes not just to the operations at the Casino and Resort but also to the broader mission of the Sycuan Tribe in sustaining its legacy and ensuring ongoing prosperity for its people and guests alike. Joining Sycuan means becoming part of a winning team where dedication and professionalism are recognized and where employees can grow within a supportive, thriving community-oriented culture.
