This job opportunity is for a Valet/Bell Person at Sonesta International Hotels. The role is essential in exemplifying Sonesta's mission to 'Wow' guests with memorable moments from the moment they arrive. The Valet/Bell Person is responsible for assisting guests with transporting their luggage to and from guest rooms, ensuring every interaction is courteous, prompt, and professional. This position is highly guest-facing and requires a person with a genuine passion for hospitality who is eager to go above and beyond to enhance the guest experience.

Working as a Valet/Bell Person at Sonesta involves operating in a fast-paced environment and handling physical tasks such as lifting luggage and pushing heavy carts. This role requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and the physical stamina to stand the entire shift. Flexibility in work schedule is vital, as the position demands availability to work variable days, including weekends, holidays, and shifts that may span day, night, or overnight hours. Pay for this role ranges from $15.00 to $19.00 per hour, depending on the candidate's skills and experience.

Job Requirements

  • Previous hotel experience or retail customer service preferred
  • Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
  • Must be able to push and pull carts weighing up to 250 lbs
  • Frequent bending, stooping and kneeling
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Must be flexible to work variable days of the week including weekends and holidays
  • Must be flexible to work variable shifts (days, nights, overnights)
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Guest-facing position working throughout the hotel including lobby, elevators, guest room corridors and guest rooms
  • Will be required to work outside to transport luggage to and from vehicles

Job Qualifications

  • Professional verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including dealing with difficult guests
  • Reading and writing abilities to complete departmental records and logs
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction

Job Duties

  • Welcome and acknowledge all arriving guests in a courteous and professional manner
  • Transport luggage to and from guest rooms
  • Secure, tag and store luggage at guest’s request
  • Direct guests to appropriate hotel staff for assistance with questions and special requests regarding food, laundry, concierge services, or housekeeping
  • Respond appropriately to guest complaints and inform supervisor of major problems, complaints, disturbances or dissatisfied guests
  • Promote hotel facilities, outlets, and services to guests and provide information to guests regarding local attractions and activities
  • Treat requests with professionalism, tact, and a courteous manner
  • Adhere to uniform and grooming standards
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
