The role of Valet Driver at Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Resort is an essential position within the guest service team that focuses on delivering superior customer experiences through courteous and efficient vehicle handling. Starting pay for this position ranges between $15 and $25 per hour, with the potential to earn cash tips daily, making it a financially rewarding opportunity. Valet Drivers are responsible for parking and retrieving guest vehicles promptly and safely while assisting guests with their luggage when necessary. The role involves understanding operational procedures such as issuing claim checks, managing parking tickets, and explaining parking rates to guests. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license for the state of work or commutable distance
  • One month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to drive safely and cautiously
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  • Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Willingness to work in outdoor and variable weather conditions
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
  • Basic math and reading comprehension skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license for the state of employment or a commutable distance
  • One month related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services
  • Ability to read and write standard English
  • Ability to comprehend and write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic including adding and subtracting three-digit numbers, multiplying and dividing by 10s and 100s
  • Ability to understand 24-hour and military time systems
  • Ability to understand applicable parking rates
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission is highly desirable
  • Ability to perform parallel parking

Job Duties

  • Maintain pleasant, friendly and professional demeanor with guests, co-workers and clients
  • Acknowledge and greet guests within five feet using a professional and friendly manner
  • Use guests' last names during interactions
  • Use salutation of the day and welcome guests to the location
  • Practice proper Towne Park phone etiquette
  • Park and retrieve vehicles while driving slowly and cautiously
  • Assist guests with bell services and luggage storage as needed
  • Open all vehicle and hotel doors for guests
  • Assist guests with directions, taxis, reservations and other inquiries
  • Provide guests with information about outlets, meeting rooms and amenities of the facility as well as main attractions in the area
  • Deliver messages, items or guest amenities as requested
  • Shuttle guests to approved locations
  • Explain parking rates and retrieval procedures to guests upon arrival
  • Issue claim checks after receiving vehicle keys
  • Collect claim checks from guests prior to issuing keys
  • Complete and maintain all ticket information including key tag, guest folio, vehicle location, damage survey and claim check receipt
  • Calculate and collect revenue for vehicles when needed
