Job Requirements
- Must have valid Texas driver's license and a clear driving record for the previous 36 months
- Must be physically capable of handling the weight of guest luggage
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Visual observation skills required
- Must have excellent verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact with guests and associates
- Must have a cheerful, positive attitude and work well with others
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Familiarity with the property and the San Jose area is helpful
- Availability to work flexible schedules including standing and walking for up to 8 hours
- Commitment to maintain personal appearance and wear proper uniform
- Compliance with hotel standards and regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in valet parking, hospitality, or customer service is a plus
- Valid Texas driver's license with a clear driving record for the previous 36 months
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to interact effectively with guests and associates
- Cheerful and positive attitude
- Ability to remain calm and work well with others
- Ability to handle luggage and physical demands of the role
- Familiarity with local area helpful
- Knowledge of foreign languages is a plus
Job Duties
- Park and control the flow of cars through the hotel
- Acknowledge every car that drives through the hotel
- Open all doors for guests
- Greet arriving and departing guests
- Follow all procedures for parking a vehicle in hotel valet lot
- Assess vehicle for damage and contents upon parking
- Accurately fill out valet parking ticket
- Maintain a key log and organized key storage system
- Assist guests with directions and information of the hotel and surrounding areas
- Direct guests to daily functions within hotel
- Continuously maintain safety and proper care of guest vehicles
- Maintain accurate financial record of day park revenue on a daily basis
- Complete errands as requested by Valencia Services and other Hotel Valencia departments
- Interact with guests as needed to ensure optimum guest service
- Serve as alternate or additional bellman or doorman when required
- Escort incoming hotel guests to rooms
- Assist with transportation and handling of luggage
- Offer information pertaining to available services and facilities of hotel, points of interest, directions, and dining options
- Explain hotel amenities and features of room, such as operation of radio, television, climate control, and how to place telephone calls
- Inspect guest's room to ensure furnishings are in order and supplies are adequate upon guest escort
- Deliver packages, luggage, and other guest belongings
- Deliver fax messages, emails, laundry, and run errands
- Call taxis for guests
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Hotel Valencia standards as required by scheduling
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance, demeanor, and grooming
- Comply at all times with Hotel Valencia standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
- Perform other job-related duties as directed
